The first few weeks in PNG consisted of.......

This is what some of the classroom looked like as I arrived on June 18
The classroom was ready for students on July 22

Our house has come a long way since we arrived on June 17th

We saw progress daily
Now we are in and settled in our newly remolded home With a bigger kitchen and an office what every family needs.

We have all settled in nicely.  Chad and I are both busy with our jobs.

  • Chad is managing the software development team and is pony club field master (aka problem solver and fixer of anything to do with the horses and fields), teaching drivers ed 1 class period a day for grade 11 and 12th.  And of course playing ultimate Frisbee every Sunday afternoon. He is on the fire crew and the Quick Response Team (QRT) for security related issues. And a handful of other responsibilities.
  • Ruth has 26 grade 1's and 2's she is assisting with.  There are many boys in the class and a whole lot of personality that keeps us smiling all day long.   I am enjoying assisting and teaching some as we try to teach everything they need to learn in a school year.  Most days come home exhausted but very pleased and fulfilled.  I get the best hugs from my kids at school, since my own kids think they are too old for hugs!
  • Anna is in grade 10.  Feeling the pressures of high school as we speak.  The joys of homework and more homework.  She loves spending time with the horses to help relive stress and enjoy the outdoors.
  • Kiery is in grade 5 and loves her teachers!!  I know big surprise there.  She is trying her hand at flute (she is starting to get little bits of noise out) and choir.  So she has become the first one out the door almost every morning of the week. With mom or dad right behind with the cup of coffee :)  She has enjoyed reconnecting with many of her friends.  She loves to jump on our trampoline every chance she gets.

Thank you for all your prayers and support!

Chad, Ruth and girls
