As of the beginning of May we are now home owners in 2 different countries!!! We were able to buy a house here in Papua New Guinea from a family that has lived here for 20 yrs. He has worked in the Aviation department as a mechanic. She has worked in the schools doing various tasks. They've had 1 son graduate from UIS and their daughter is graduating with Meliah's class.
The house will give Anna and Kiery a feeling of stability here in PNG also. Anna is thrilled to live a whole lot closer to the horse paddocks. Kiery is thrilled because there are a lot of friends close by. Chad and Ruth love the view out of all the windows!!! The current owners will be moving out after graduation so we won't be moving until after we return to PNG Jan. 2015. They have been gracious enough to let us put some of our things into storage there as we prepare for furlough. We will do a remodel after we return to make some minor changes, to make it more "US". To buy a home here is not for investment purposes at all. In fact at times it is really, really hard to sell a house here. Depending on the coming and goings of people and how many homes are available etc. We may own the house but we don't own the land it sits on, the land is leased to SIL. It is more for having a place to call home and not having to move when people return from furlough etc.
Who would of thought that the Michael Family would stay in a third world country for 3 years, when the original plan was for 1 year, tasol. Then to buy a house so we have a place to call home in 2 different countries.
Jeremiah 29:11(Message)
I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
Hope to see everyone state side in about 1 1/2 months.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support.
Chad, Ruth and girls
